I spent fourteen years in public practice before starting this firm. Long enough to learn the work properly, and long enough to see how the invoices really worked.

When a client paid a city firm, only a fraction of the fee ever reached the person preparing their return. The rest paid for everything around it: the tower, the layers of review, the hours added around the work itself, the brand on the letterhead. My own time was typically billed out at five to ten times what I was paid. The client overpaid, the accountant was underpaid, and the distance between them funded everything in between.

In 2023, I started taking clients directly. Registered, set up properly, but with none of the machinery I had left behind. The plan was never to run a cheaper version of the same firm. It was to remove the reasons the old model was expensive.

So around the client work, I built a system. Year after year, return after return, it took on more of the routine: collecting what’s needed, checking what arrived, preparing what repeats. Not to replace the accountant, but to return the accountant’s time to the one part that requires an accountant: judgement.

That sentence is the whole model. Because the system carries the routine, one accountant can carry a client completely, from first document to lodgement, and the work never needs to travel. Beside them sits a bench we chose carefully: accountants first, with legal and finance specialists for the complex matters.

And because the routine is systemised, the pricing can be too. Our fees are fixed, published on this site, and sit around 23% below typical city-firm fees for the same returns, while the person doing the work is paid properly for it. Both sides of the old imbalance, corrected at once.

None of this is new. The firm has been doing the work this way, quietly, for years. What is new is the front door: the prices on display, the process visible, the fee known before we know your name. Tax is where the method proves itself. It will not be the last thing we build.
